Results from Semi-Final Matches for 2011 Open Doubles Tournament

The finals are now set for the 2011 Open Doubles Tournament.  The Finals, to take place tomorrow morning at 9:30 (weather permitting), will pit Gary Pinder and Dave McAleer against Mike Fowler and Darcy Ross.

Gary Pinder and Dave McAleer advanced to the finals by defeating Vu Doan and Ha Nguyen.  In the other semi-final Darcy Ross and Mike Fowler advanced to the finals, defeating Patrick LeBlanc and Bob Streicher 7-5, 6-0.  Darcy and Mike took the first set despite trailing at one point 5-3 and serving at 30-40.  A great comeback which should make for an interesting final tomorrow.

The consolation finals has also been set where at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting) Barb Taylor and Nhan Doan will take on Claude LeBlanc and Pat Oulahen.  Barb Taylor and Nhan Doan advanced when their opponents, Mohamed Yawar and Ali Kasimi defaulted.  Claude and Pat booked their trip to the finals with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Nancy and Jon Trudel.

Both matches are expected to provide plenty of drama so for those who can attend, I highly recommend coming out to the courts to watch some great doubles action.

Good luck to all the competitors!
